AT&T offers minimum $100 trade in for your old phone, or donate to Cell Phones for Soldiers

ATT logoRunning now through December 7th, customers on Big Blue can knock AT LEAST $100 off a new phone purchased on a two year contract by handing off their qualified old phone.

If your phone is worth more, you’ll get more for it, and that’ll cut the price of your new phone purchase. Not a bad way to encourage more recycling, and I’m all for rewarding that behavior. You’ll always want to check what your phone is worth on the open market however, as you might be able to score more cash through online auction or other trade in services. If convenience is your jam though, AT&T will help you keep everything in house and easy.

I’d also like my fine readers to consider not accepting the cash. If you were shopping a new phone, you can apply your trade in credit towards a new purchase, or you can opt out and AT&T will donate those funds to Cell Phones for Soldiers. This time of year, these types of devices can be invaluable in keeping our service men and women connected to their families. If you have the means, your old phone could be a small but welcome help to a family separated this holiday season.

Full PR after the jump.

AT&T Launches $100 Minimum Smartphone Trade-In Offer to Customers with a Two-year wireless agreement

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 13, 2013 – Beginning Nov. 13, consumers who trade in their current, qualified smartphone to AT&T* in store will be eligible to receive at least $100 off the purchase of some of the season’s hottest smartphones like the HTC One® 32G Band and the Samsung Galaxy S® 4 16GB.  These devices are normally $199.99 with a qualifying two-year wireless agreement but, with this limited time promotion, consumers can get them for $99.99**.

This promotion applies to select AT&T smartphones, and gives customers access to the latest devices at a fraction of the cost or, in the case of smartphones priced under $99.99**, for free.

Some trade-in smartphones may have a  trade-in value higher than $100.  In this case, customers will receive the higher value.

To take advantage of this offer, customers are encouraged to visit any AT&T company-owned retail store or participating authorized dealer with their previous smartphone that is no more than three years old and in good, working condition.  In AT&T company-owned stores, upon trading in their qualified smartphone, customers will receive a minimum $100 AT&T Promotion Card on-the-spot when they make an eligible smartphone purchase.***

The promotion card can be used immediately towards the purchase of a new smartphone, a connected tablet, new accessories or a wireless service bill. Offer is for a limited time only, ending Dec. 7, 2013. Promotion can change at any time.

“We’re thrilled to bring back this popular trade-in offer and help AT&T customers to get their hands on the latest smartphones at a great price,” said Eric Goldfeld, AVP – Marketing Management, AT&T.  “With the holidays right around the corner, this is a great time to get gift shopping done early, treat yourself with a new smartphone or apply the credit to your account –your choice.”

In AT&T company-owned retail stores, AT&T’s standard Trade-In Program also lets customers turn in old wireless devices and receive an AT&T Promotion Card reflective of the device’s trade-in value and condition. Customers can use the card to offset the cost of some of the latest wireless devices or the purchase of other AT&T products and services.**** All devices, including tablets data cards and feature phones – regardless of manufacturer or date purchased – will be considered for trade-in.

AT&T offers a great line-up of the latest smartphones that run on the AT&T 4G LTE network, the nation’s fastest and most reliable network, which currently covers   more than 250 million people – with plans to cover  nearly 270 million people by the end of 2013.***** Meanwhile, AT&T was named America’s fastest 4G LTE network, in PC Magazine’s 2013 Fastest Mobile Networks study of 30 markets – and also swept the top rankings in all six U.S. regions from coast to coast: Northeast, Southeast, North-Central, South-Central, Northwest and Southwest.******
