App Review: Blue Skies Weather App for Windows Phone 8.1

There are a number of weather apps available in the windows store to choose from. I like to try different apps to bring you the best of what is available and I came across this sweet weather app from Blue Skies.

Blue Skies is designed and developed by Rohit Rajendran who did an amazing job. He literally thought of everything you need from a weather app.

Blue Skies has a well designed UI that is very easy on the eyes, and is simple to navigate. There are light and dark themes to suit your needs. On the first screen you will see basic information about weather in your city. If you tap on the circle it will give you wind and chance of rain. Near the bottom of the screen it will tell you how far the nearest storm is from you.

Heading over to the next screen on Blue Skies you will see your high and low for the day, humidity, precipitation, sunrise and sunset. The boxes at the bottom of the screen will show your weather throughout the different times of the day. Just scroll through the boxes to see if you will need sunglasses, your umbrella or snow shoes!

On the third and final screen of Blue Skies you will get your 5 day forecast. Would you like to know what a particular day’s weather has in store for you? Just tap on the day you want to check and you will get detailed information just like on the second screen including a summary for the day.

The settings on Blue Skies is pretty straight forward where you can use your tile accent color, choose from light or dark theme, location services, weather units, 12 or 24 hour clock options and weather alert notifications.

The live tile options are the best I have seen on a weather app period! You can enable your live tile to show your current location or any location you choose. You can also choose the frequency of your live tile updates as well as force refresh the live tile updates manually. Blue Skies also offers the live tile to flip or not flip.

When you tap on the tile you want to customize, Blue Skies offers several choices on the front of the tile and the back of the tile with a live preview. Blue Skies does offer additional features which you can purchase such as a radar map, more frequent updates and options for the live tile. Blue Skies has an option called “Get it all bundle” which includes all the add ons.

Blue Skies really shines when it comes to a well designed weather app. You can tell the developer really cares about Blue Skies by keeping the app updated on a frequent basis. For a free and well designed weather app, Blue Skies is a definite must have weather app especially for FREE!
