xFryo xS2 Wireless Earbuds: When “waterproof” isn’t really waterproof…

Delivering negative reviews is never fun…

At its core, the xFryo xS2 are competent, straightforward, low cost earbuds. Truly wireless Bluetooth in-ear headphones with similar pros and cons that I’ve detailed in other headphone reviews, like the TRNDlabs Nova.

Let’s break it down.

In a tube-like case, something that certainly won’t look out of place in a purse, you get two earbuds and a battery to charge them. The earbuds ran for just over 3 hours of music listening per charge, and the case can charge both buds around six times before you need to plug the whole kit in.

MEE Audio M6 Pro Review PART 1: Pro audio for the masses!

Damn I love breaking in new headphones. Playing with some terrific low cost options! How about some well-tuned single-driver in-ear monitors, with a TON of accessories in the box, at a price roughly half of their targeted competition? MEE Audio has something special on their hands, but the ear buds themselves are only PART of the story… Continue reading “MEE Audio M6 Pro Review PART 1: Pro audio for the masses!”

Making a whole video on the LG V40: What did we learn?

When I shot a comparison between the LG V40 and the V30, I wanted to see how much of that video I could produce from a phone. In part, because I was stuck waiting for my iPhone camera review to finish rendering. Under that kind of time crunch, I was happy that I was able to almost completely finish off that review. Of course, there were some issues. Some not so small issues. What did we learn about mobile video production? Continue reading “Making a whole video on the LG V40: What did we learn?”

iPhone XS One Month Later: Good Phone, POOR Value

Every manufacturer makes claims about their products, but Apple is makes a HUGE claim about their smaller, premium, iPhone XS by attaching a HUGE price tag. Judging value is extremely difficult (and often very personal), but let’s break down the pros and cons one month later. Does the iPhone XS live up to its price tag? LG V40 vs LG V30: Let’s chat about a one-year upgrade…

One of the hardest questions for a tech reviewer to answer. If you have a flagship phone, is a one year upgrade worth it? Instead of just ticking off spec check boxes, let’s look at what LG is claiming their phone can do. If you have a V30, should you be shopping a V40?

How should we benchmark the iPhone XS (and every other phone)?

Synthetic benchmark scores don’t always reflect real world performance. App speed runs look fun, don’t actually measure performance. What are some tests we can perform to gauge improvements from year to year on our electronics? How can we compare processing power looking at the differences between Android and iOS?

The NEW Google Pixel Headphone Dongle: Pay More, Get Less

This is really getting to me. This is way less fun. I like having more fun in my tech reviews.

During my Razer headphone dongle review, I lost my Pixel adapter. Still can’t find it, so I ordered a replacement. AFTER ordering a replacement, Google refreshed the dongle, and now it’s $3 more expensive, so I grabbed that one too. Time for a short comparison!

This isn’t progress. Audio is a CORE feature of using a smartphone. It shouldn’t be handled like this.
