It’s my birthday, but YOU get the presents! Want to win an LG G3 and a VR Headset? Of course you do! Here’s how you can enter into this contest.
People keep saying Virtual Reality WILL be the next big thing, but there still aren’t very many ways for consumers to try out VR without investing a ton of cash. LG sent over their headset, which uses the G3 as the display, for us to test out some VR apps and the Google Cardboard ecosystem!
Google’s newest phone operating system has only made it to around 5% of the Android handsets out in the ecosystem, but that’s set to improve soon as the Lollipop update is starting to roll out to AT&T LG G3’s.
The update brings the slick new Material Design, and the ability to use USB Audio hardware, which I just tested on my G3 with a Zoom H4n. Pretty exciting to use professional grade recording equipment with my smartphone.
As with most rollouts, expect it to be delivered in stages, so fret not if you go into your settings and you don’t have an update ready to install. It should be on its way soon.
We’ve seen a few companies build out variations on Google’s “inexpensive” solution for using a phone as a VR screen.
Based on that template however, LG will be building a plastic rig, designed specifically for the G3, and if you’re looking to buy LG’s current QHD screened flagship smartphone, chances are you can score a headset for free. We don’t have details yet on how or when LG might start shipping, but you can read their full press release below for more info!
Toast is one of my favorite case and cover manufacturers, using real wood for their skins, manufacturing here in the United States, and power their plant with renewable energy. I got a chance to check out their upcoming covers for the LG G3, iPhone 6, and Surface Pro 3!
I don’t always keep my phone in a case, but I like to have a couple case options for customizing. The fine folks at Tudia sent a few bumpers my way for the LG G3, and you can win one!
