Long Term Review: The LG G2 on AT&T – Look, Feel, and Function from LG’s premier Smartphone

LG G2 Camera reviewOnly my second LG review!

The G2 is a MONSTER phone on paper. Incredible screen, huge battery capacity, big camera specs, and a brilliant tablet-grade processor. Having used the phone out in the wild for a couple weeks now, does real world performance live up to the specs on paper? Does this phone live up to LG’s promises?

App Review: UTrailme – Live Video Streaming

014Today’s review is on the UTrailme app developed by Dream Team Mobile, which is a live streaming app for both Windows and IOS  phones. Instagram, Facebook, Twitter all allow you to share pictures at that moment. Vine let’s you record short video to share. What if you could share a live stream with all of your friends in real time? Utrailme is here to provide you with an app for live streaming of concerts, sporting events or you see something interesting happening that you want to share with your friends.

UTrailme has a pretty slick UI which is very easy to navigate. Setting up this app is quite easy so you can share your live streams directly and automatically post on Facebook, Twitter and VK.  You can select your video quality from the setting menu to stream your event in low, medium, high or auto-detect.  There are no light or dark themes, and you will not see any pop up ads. Camera Test: The LG G2 on AT&T – video samples from a 13MP Android with Optical Image Stabilization!

LG G2 Camera reviewMonster specs!

The G2 is one of the first Android phones to rock the Qualcomm 800 processor here in the states. It’s also only the second Android handset to sport a camera with proper hardware optical image stabilization and a higher resolution sensor than the HTC One. This should be a recipe for camera phone success.

LG made some pretty bold claims with their ads, so let’s see if the LG G2 lives up to the hype!

nokia bh905 bh940 purity pro wireless bluetooth headphones nfc pairing review somegadgetguyI LOVE audio gear. Speaker reviews. Headphone reviews. They’re all good!

I haven’t tackled a pair of cans for a while, and thankfully I’ve got a MONSTER pair of Nokia cans to check out (see what I did there). One of my first gadget reviews was the wonderful Nokia Bluetooth BH-905’s, and now with the BH-940’s Nokia has added NFC pairing to their wireless headphone formula.

Retailing for around $250, let’s see if this is peanut butter jelly time!

App Review: Nokia MixRadio for Windows Phone

069

Let me introduce you to Nokia MixRadio. I ride my bike everywhere I go and this app keeps the tunes flowing without any interruption of ads. You might be asking yourself: “Isn’t there a Nokia Music app already?” Actually Nokia re-branded the Nokia Music app to Nokia MixRadio with a fresh new UI and features.

Nokia MixRadio offers up a novel way to discover new music and artists. With over 18 million songs available you should have no problem making your own custom mix of music to take with you wherever you go. This app has over 150 prescribed playlists by Nokia’s very own mixologists! You can download 4 playlists which equals about 8 hours of music. Mind you with the free version of the app you still get a ton of streaming music for free however you can only skip ahead 6 songs per hour.  If you need even more music you can upgrade the Nokia MixRadio app for $3.99 a month which includes unlimited downloads. ballistic hydra waterproof case iphone 5s test review somegadgetguy

There still aren’t a lot of rugged and water-proof cases built specifically for the iPhone 5S. Thankfully, the changes between the 5 and 5S aren’t so severe that you couldn’t use a 5 case on a 5S, but there will be a few compromises.

The Ballistic Hydra is ready to go! Let’s take a look at how someone might better protect their shiny, pretty iPhone from drop and water damage!

Gadget Review: Ravpower Lipstick Charger and Flashlight

002

Today this little gadget came in, so let me introduce you to the RAVPower Luster Mini 3000mAh Lipstick Charger.  The RAVPower weighs in at a mere 3oz so it is very light in your pockets or messenger bag.  It even comes with a clip, a very shiny chrome clip so you can put it in your shirt pocket on pants pocket. These little yet very functional gadget measures 4.6 X 0.9 X 0.9 so you can pretty much say it is very compact.  The RAVPower Lipstick Charger comes in a few choices of color such as black, pink, silver and a champagne color.

This is what comes in the box:

  • 1 – RAVPower  Luster Mini 3000mAh Lipstick Charger
  • 1 – USB to Micro USB cable
  • 1 – User Manual

The RAVPower is going to be one of your best friends when you are out and about and don’t have access to your wall charger. One of the very useful features of this lipstick charger is that it doubles as a flashlight and lights up with an intense 8 lumens! Drop your keys in the dark car? Grab your RAVPower lipstick charger and let the light shine to find your keys amongst those butterfinger wrappers under your seat!  When you use the flashlight, the RAVPower has 3 modes: high, low and strobe. This would come in handy if you are a bicyclist and your headlight happens to go out, you could easily use this as a backup light so you will not get a ticket from the local Police. With the Trivia Buff app you can start training your brain to collect all the info necessary to crush the next trivia night at your local pub.

The app pulls info from a variety of sources (though you will see a lot of wikis), so it’s only really limited by your own curiosity.

The Trivia Buff app is a no frills, straight forward app for your Windows 8 phone. There are no dark or light theme options. You can opt to buy the ad free version for a mere $0.99 to help support the fine folks over at Dapper Panda.  The options of the Trivia Buff app are few but very useful. You can change the font size, you can choose to show or not show the logo on the live tile and speaking of the live tile, you have 3 sizes, small, medium and large, and the last option is that you have a choice of browsers to use.
