Gadget Review: Ravpower Lipstick Charger and Flashlight

Today this little gadget came in, so let me introduce you to the RAVPower Luster Mini 3000mAh Lipstick Charger.  The RAVPower weighs in at a mere 3oz so it is very light in your pockets or messenger bag.  It even comes with a clip, a very shiny chrome clip so you can put it in your shirt pocket on pants pocket. These little yet very functional gadget measures 4.6 X 0.9 X 0.9 so you can pretty much say it is very compact.  The RAVPower Lipstick Charger comes in a few choices of color such as black, pink, silver and a champagne color.

The RAVPower is going to be one of your best friends when you are out and about and don’t have access to your wall charger. One of the very useful features of this lipstick charger is that it doubles as a flashlight and lights up with an intense 8 lumens! Drop your keys in the dark car? Grab your RAVPower lipstick charger and let the light shine to find your keys amongst those butterfinger wrappers under your seat!  When you use the flashlight, the RAVPower has 3 modes: high, low and strobe. This would come in handy if you are a bicyclist and your headlight happens to go out, you could easily use this as a backup light so you will not get a ticket from the local Police.

I decided to let my phone’s (Nokia Lumia 521) battery drain down to about 20% to see how fast the RAVPower lipstick charger would charge the battery.  Hooking the RAVPower lipstick charger is pretty self explanatory.  I plugged in the USB cable to the lipstick charger and the other end to my phone and set the timer. Although a wall charger will charge faster, the RAVpower lipstick is a great travel companion and “in a pinch” device to use to charge your phone.

My phone took  35 minutes to charge from 20% to 100% using the RAVpower lipstick charger.  I would say that is a pretty decent charging time.  When the Ravpower lipstick charger is in need of a charge the LED indicator will be red when it is low and when it has a full charge it lights up in blue.

I used the RAVPower Lipstick charger on my rides this week as I ride my bike everywhere.  It actually came in handy one evening as I was running late to meet a few friends for dinner and I did not have time to charge my phone. I plugged the lipstick charger into my phone and put it in the front pouch of my messenger bag and pedaled away! I was not popping wheelies. I promise! It was a comforting felling knowing the RAVPower was charging my phone which was low, on my ride to dinner.I actually carry the RAVPower lipstick charger with me everywhere I ride to. Nobody likes being out and about with a low battery on their phone. The one feature that I would add to this charger would be some kind of detachable clip that you could put on your keychain like some portable USB flash drives. All in all though for $19.99 this is beyond a pretty sweet deal!

It’s inexpensive, it’s light weight and it’s very compact! The holiday season is upon us and this would make a great stocking stuffer!
