The NEW Google Pixel Headphone Dongle: Pay More, Get Less

This is really getting to me. This is way less fun. I like having more fun in my tech reviews.

During my Razer headphone dongle review, I lost my Pixel adapter. Still can’t find it, so I ordered a replacement. AFTER ordering a replacement, Google refreshed the dongle, and now it’s $3 more expensive, so I grabbed that one too. Time for a short comparison!

This isn’t progress. Audio is a CORE feature of using a smartphone. It shouldn’t be handled like this.

#SGGQA 062: Creator Chat – Justin and Logan from Tek Syndicate

Welcome to another creator chat on the SGGQA podcast channel! I often think the story of how a creator got started is just as interesting and entertaining as the stuff they make.

This week, we’re talking about changing expectations. It’s scary for an established creator to stray from what works, and sometimes it’s difficult for an audience to adapt to a transition. Expectations. It can get kinda messy.

Logan and Justin are extremely fun hosts on the Tek Syndicate YouTube and Twitch channels, producing entertaining geek commentary and videos examining computer and gaming hardware. Along the way though, TekSyndicate shifted from a commentary and review resource. Logan is now dipping his toes in the waters of video game development, and that change in discussion ruffled more than a few feathers in his original audience.

I’ll let them tell you all about it…

#SGGQA 061: iPhone Xs on its way, Apple Trust Scores, China Blocks Twitch, FCC Lawsuits – Monday Morning

No one at the White House knows WHO wants the DOJ to investigate Google, but it might be a future Executive Order from President Trump. Multiple courts are now ordering the FCC to turn over data regarding bogus comments during the repeal of Net Neutrality. Wireless carriers continue to target video streaming services while prices rise on “unlimited” data plans. China bans Twitch. Apple is now ranking your iPhone use and creating a ‘Trust Score’ based on your behavior, will that data be abused?

Also, it’s time to chat about my review strategy for the iPhone Xs as it’s on its way to my house now.

#SGGQA 060: Creator Chat – Damir Franc The Nitpicker

Welcome to another creator chat on the SGGQA podcast channel! I think often the story of how a creator got started is just as interesting and entertaining as the stuff they make.

This week, I’m feeling a European flair.

It’s easy to get complacent as a North American tech reviewer, the echo chamber of commentary from a country where only two companies can practically dominate the “tech as lifestyle” conversation.

Damir Franc brings a refreshing viewpoint to the consumer electronics discussion, with a no holds barred approach to top brands and PR relationships. Notable for the fact that he produces videos for a local audience in German, and internationally in English, he has to pull double duty in managing the different expectations of such a broad audience. I’ll let him tell you all about it…
