This has been a tough couple of weeks for some of my favorite social media sites, and now I’m sitting in my kitchen getting weepy over one of my favorite podcasts signing off for the last time.
You can always get a feel for when a show you enjoy might be on its way out, but it still hits hard when they finally pull the plug.
After 635 episodes, All About Android is ending its run on the TWiT network of podcasts.
AAA was one of my most consistently listened to podcasts. It was one of my favorite talk shows to have on in my car, sitting in LA traffic. The hosts’ voices (especially Jason, Ron, and Flo) will be burned into my brain for the rest of my life.
I’ve had HUNDREDS of imaginary conversations and debates with the hosts. It was always a highlight of my week whenever I would get to guest and chat with them live. It was always a dream of mine to head up to San Francisco and record an episode live.
Unfortunately, that won’t ever happen.
I’m so honored to have had the opportunity to be included on their show. I’m proud to be “work pals” with these fun tech editorialists. I know I’ll see them all on future productions and in future podcasts and videos.
This was such a fun resource for tech news and reviews. It’s incredibly difficult to strike a balance between more in-depth technical discussions and lifestyle tech conversations. AAA handled that balance well, and was one of the few shows that still had fun with Android as a consumer topic.
It’s concerning to see the shift in demographics, how Android as a topic is essentially invisible to consumers under the age of 30. Now shows about Android are increasingly more difficult to monetize and produce. It feels like the fun surrounding mobile tech is eroding.
I’m really going to miss All About Android.
G’Night nerds. You did us geeks proud.
I’m gonna miss that show, they were truly a great cast, that really cared about Android. Although, I’m not surprised that the enthusiasm around Android is fading (at least in the U.S) it seems like most of the excitement is in Asia, particularly with Chinese brands. Which have little to no footprint in the US.
Really sad to see AAA cancelled. It was the one podcast I listened to without fail. They were my vicarious Android friends. The thrill of having my emails read out. RIP AAA.
