I ran a little tech enthusiast subreddit built around the idea of sharing content that deserved more attention. I held out til the last minute to see if Reddit would reverse course on their API plans.
It breaks my heart to announce we’ll be shuttering this little tech fan sharing space.
GlowingRectangles is going dark too. The relevant info can be found on the sub here:

It’s difficult to put into words how crushing this is. Community based sites like Reddit are fueled by volunteer work and it takes a lot of effort to build trust in a forum.
Even if Reddit course corrects at the last second, the entire platform has been tarnished by this issue. It will take time to restore that user and member trust to where we were before all this news broke. We’ll probably never have QUITE the same experience we lost.
As always, I remain so appreciative of the group here (and on my Patreon) that care about the philosophy of tech reviewing, and continue to support not only this Reddit, but a broader and fairer conversation surrounding the technology we’re passionate about.
Every day it feels like a tighter vice grip is squeezing out competition not only in the products we can buy, but also in the ideas we can share.
I hope folks here and on Reddit will participate and share other resources for where we might continue the “public and free” face of this mission. Other resources we can turn to in supporting content creators of all sizes, and boosting the content we feel deserves more attention.
Please don’t be shy in the comments (here or on the sub), and a HUGE thank you to all the folks who supported the mission of GlowingRectangles.
I love you all!
