Were point and shoot cameras as good as we remember them?

FIGHT FOR BLOOD!!!

There’s an interesting fixation on dedicated cameras which seems to exist at the bookends of photography. While I try to highlight how good our smartphone cameras have gotten, we see groups of influencers playing with old point and shoot cameras. At the other end of the spectrum, no matter how good a phone sensor might be, we often hear from photographers that you can’t beat a “proper” zoom lens.

I really didn’t want to spend money on an old point and shoot, but while cleaning out a box of old gear, I found my old Samsung Galaxy Camera. The battery had turned into a spicy pillow, but prying it out, I was able to track down a replacement and get the camera working again.

Phone cameras rock, but we need better audio…

A little walk-and-talk vlog to chat about phone audio, and what we need to make it better.

Does the OnePlus 12 have a Stacked Camera Sensor? Is the Open Camera Better? CONTROVERSY!

What’s going on with the OnePlus 12 camera?
I’ve gotten a number of questions from folks concerned about the new camera sensor in the OnePlus 12, and how it might be different from the OnePlus Open. Is OnePlus trying to pull a fast one? Should folks expect poorer camera performance on the less expensive phone?

Foldable Phones: The Better Travel Computer?

Is smaller better?

I’m starting to crawl out of my shell more, and looking at more travel for family and for work. I’ve always been annoyed by aspects of travel, like getting through TSA security theatre checkpoints, and I’ve always enjoyed the challenge of moving more work to smaller and smaller mobile devices.

Foldables contribute to that conversation in an interesting way, but they also face incredible competition from other tech accessories.

Hopping another flight to New York, what was it like working out of a OnePlus Open?

Better than I thought it would be… Continue reading “Foldable Phones: The Better Travel Computer?”
