We’ve officially crossed 10,000 subscribers on SomeGadgetGuy! To celebrate we’re giving away a great little Kodak camera, the AZ522!
To enter, you have to be a subscriber on Youtube, and you need to leave a comment on this video telling me what’s the first thing you want to take a picture of, should you win this camera. You can comment as often as you’d like on this video, but only one comment will count as an entry.
You can gain additional entries by sharing my videos on the social networks of your choice. I’ll be tracking the hashtag #JCB10K for the contest, so use that tag when you share. If you share a video somewhere you can’t use a hashtag (say a forum or social news site), then send me a link where you shared it, and I’ll add that to the pool of entries. That’s right I need YOUR help naming a new segment here on SomeGadgetGuy! I want to do more long term usage and check in videos detailing my experiences using the gear we get to review. The problem is, I have NO idea what to call that segment! Hook up a good name, and I’ll send you a mini Kingston prize pack!
I’ll accept entries until July 13 at 11:59 PM Pacific Time, and I’ll announce a winner on Monday July 14th. This contest is open to any residents of countries which do not place egregious restrictions on shipping or contests. Winner must be a subscriber of this channel and at least 18 years of age (kids can have a parent enter on their behalf). There are no limits on number of entries or comments, but if two show names are similar, I’ll choose the person with the earlier time stamp on their comment. Good luck!
Posted to their Facebook page today, Microsoft will be giving away eight Windows Phones at each of their stores this May 3rd and 4th.
Details are a bit slim, but if you’re looking to score a free phone, it looks like you’ll be playing a game. We know it’s called the “Opportunity Rings, Answer It” game, but we don’t know how it’ll be played. We also don’t know what phones will be given away, and what carriers will be supported.
Still a free phone is a free phone, and if you live near a Microsoft store it might be worth the trek. A little additional info can be found on their Facebook event page. Good luck!

I’m a little late to this party, but damn I’m glad I finally arrived.
If you’re not hip to the Loot Crate, it’s a monthly subscription geek box of loot. Each month they pack a whole bunch of cool stuff into a box and ship it to your door. Each month has a theme, but the box contents are always a surprise. Could be cool comics, movies, games, shirts, pretty much anything is fair game.
For October and Halloween, it’s not surprising that Zombie gear is shambling out of this month’s crate. Featuring a copy of The Zombie Survival Guide and a funny parody “EWOKING DEAD” t-shirt, there are also some fun buttons, a zombie hunter license, a zombie greeting card, and Loot Crate’s monthly magazine which includes an interview with Max Brooks.
You can buy individual Crates for $13.37 + $6 S&H, or subscribe for monthly drops. A three month pass drops the price a dollar per box, and a six month pass drops each box to $11.67 + S&H. Even individually, under $20 a month for fun gear is well worth the price of admission. Getting this first box got me hooked on the idea.
