Vivo X100 Pro: A BIG Problem with my Favorite Phone Camera

The Vivo X100 Pro has shot almost all of my B-Roll and outdoor footage this year. It’s a monster camera system, and it’s dramatically sped up my video production. It’s one of the absolute best mobile photography options available today, and it embarrasses similarly priced options from Apple and Samsung.

While I love this camera system, there’s one MAJOR issue that is SUPER frustrating to work around… Continue reading “Vivo X100 Pro: A BIG Problem with my Favorite Phone Camera”

When Apple Fans Defend Google: AI Edition!

Apple fans on Threads are CORRECT!

Apple not bringing LLM features to current iPhones and iPads is NOT an indication that Apple is failing to support their products!

So why did we think this was a problem when Google did something similar with Gemini? Continue reading “When Apple Fans Defend Google: AI Edition!”

Maybe Stop Shilling for Apple’s AirTags? Google’s Find My Device Network is JUST Getting Started…

It’s time for another round of hack tech “reviews” comparing Google products against Apple products. This round?

Location trackers.

I’ve been pretty vocal on the topic for the last year, pointing out how Apple used its size to bully competitors, and how in this specific instance, Apple fell far short anticipating concerns with AirTag privacy and security.

After a year-long delay (caused by Apple), folks on Android are finally getting access to tags, cards, and clips that offer up networked location tracking capabilities.

And in the first week that these products are hitting Google’s network, it’s time for Hack Tech “reviewers” to declare Apple “the winner” in a completely unfair comparison. Continue reading “Maybe Stop Shilling for Apple’s AirTags? Google’s Find My Device Network is JUST Getting Started…”

Suing Apple is a necessary step in challenging our perception of Big Tech…

It’s 2003, and I’m working for a small firm that manages tech sales and support for one of the labs in New Mexico. My main job is literally manually translating purchase orders and product requests from an ancient order system at the firm to communicate with an ancient UNIX system at the lab. When I’m not transferring data and approving requests though, I work with the sales teams, support teams, and I spend a lot of time in their warehouse taking systems apart. It’s a great job.

We ran two main contracts that would completely change the entire course of my life. We sold and supported HP systems and Apple systems. Continue reading “Suing Apple is a necessary step in challenging our perception of Big Tech…”

Windows Recall will be a Security Problem for Mac and Linux Users too!

Windows Recall wont just be a privacy issue for Windows users! Even if you’re on Linux or a Mac, every interaction you have with a Windows user will be saved by that person’s Recall. Recall will become a desirable target for malware, as attackers will get access to everything on that system, and EVERYTHING that user has ever seen.

I’m strongly suggesting folks consider contacting elected officials and regulators. We need to encourage companies to do a better job of protecting our data.

OnePlus 12 WiFi Mystery! Why is my phone connecting to an #OPTIMUM Network?

ONEPLUS 12 CONTROVERSY!

It’s a little concerning. My phone keeps trying to connect to a mystery network, listed as an ISP WiFi that (to my knowledge) doesn’t do business here in California. Has anyone else seen something like this?
