Apogee Groove USB DAC in 2021: Tiny Stick, HUGE AMP!

Apogee Groove 2021 Review! It’s new to me!

The Groove has been out for a while now, but it deserves a second look today!

Originally built as an enthusiast travel solution, now more consumers are getting interested in higher quality audio streaming. THX Onyx AAA DAC: Overkill for Apple Lossless?

Naw. This thing is great!

I didn’t soapbox TOO much in this review, but it is kinda frustrating how many techies shrugged on the ESS DAC in LG phones. Replacing that headphone solution with an external device is NOT cheap.

Still, I’m happy the spirit of that mobile audio lives on, and THX has a killer solution for folks looking to jump start their audiophile journey. Continue reading “THX Onyx AAA DAC: Overkill for Apple Lossless?”

Audeze Mobius REVISITED!

I spent a VERY little time with the Audeze Mobius while producing some content for Newegg. Now, with Spatial audio becoming more popular, it’s a good time to look back. Does this premium experiment hold up today? Is 3D Audio a practical feature or a fad? In a world of Airpods Max, can this headset be worth it?

Let’s take a listen! Continue reading “Audeze Mobius and Spatial Audio in 2021: I got it wrong two years ago…”

Sony XPERIA 1 III: FINALLY a phone for ME!

Sony XPERIA 1 iii first impressions! Long-term first impressions? This all got SUPER weird. I had the phone back in May, had to send it back, and then they changed the embargo.

Yeesh…

Still, we can FINALLY share some thoughts on my favorite phone of 2021.

Where MANY premium phones are getting rid of features, Sony stands as the most complete premium option on the market today. Improvements for the camera. Improvements for the audio. AND the most beautiful screen available on any phone. We have a LOT to chat about. Let’s dig into the XPERIA! Continue reading “Sony XPERIA 1 III: FINALLY a phone for ME!”

Pixel Buds A-Series: Your Best Buds?

Not a review, but sharing some thoughts on using the Pixel Buds A-Series for about a week. Refining is the name of the game, and while the A-Series might not have all the same features as the 2020 Pixel Buds, they might perform better for a lot of folks out there.
