There was no phone of the year in 2020.
In general I kind of despise a “winner / loser” review style. I try to find who might be the right fit for a gadget, even if that potential audience is REALLY small.
Even for my reluctance to declare “winners”, I’m wrapping up 2020 with a strong feeling that there legitimately was no ONE device that defined mobile computing for consumers.
Instead, this year cemented the idea that consumers should have more choice and more variety to satisfy their specific needs.

A bit of holiday fun, OF COURSE ‘Die Hard’ is a Christmas movie!
Beyond the trappings of Christmas decorations, ‘Die Hard’ delivers on themes that completely satisfy Christmas movie criteria. Better than a couple trees and some lights in the background of a scene, ‘Die Hard’ has some real feels.

Great film-making tools at a surprisingly decent price!
Phones are incredible pocket computers, and they often include respectable cameras. Calling something a “vlogger kit” might give someone the impression that this is a low quality accessory for low effort video streaming.
That’s not the case here.
RODE delivers a fantastic starter platform for folks looking to get more out of a phone camera, and with accessories that should work with other pro gear.
