#SGGQA 375 Google BREAKS PROMISE for Pixel 6 Support, Best Premium Android Games of 2024!

Google BROKE THEIR PROMISE of 3 OS updates for the Pixel 6 and 7!

Apple is getting sued over iCloud and searching for abuse materials. Also, the next iPhone SE could have a poor radio using something other than Qualcomm. The XREAL One are in the GadgetLab.

And, we’ll give out some BEST OF THE YEAR awards for PREMIUM games on mobile!

Let’s get our tech week started right!

8849 Tank Pad Tablet Review: RUGGED, Powerful, Projector, AFFORDABLE!

It’s a ridiculous product until you use it.

I think the Tank Pad makes more sense than some of the recent Tank Phones I’ve reviewed. There’s something wild about a gadget built this chunky, with outlandish specs, but it starts to make sense.

It lives by the mantra that gadgets “aren’t for everyone”. It runs with that idea, and it delivers a unique experience to a small demographic of folks often neglected.

We can make a gadget tough, we can make it powerful, AND we can make that affordably.

[Lex was REALLY excited to help me shoot this review. “You WANT me to spray a TABLET with a HOSE?!?!?!”]

Losing Headphone Jacks was ALWAYS Ruthlessly Greedy! Consumers Haven’t Given Up On Cables!

SGGQA Podcast Special Report!

I cut down a section of this week’s podcast. Enjoy!

Bluetooth audio delivers higher revenue growth, and companies make more money by forcing people to replace headphones more frequently.

Have consumers really moved on? Is everyone cutting the cable? Or is there an opportunity to “innovate” by bringing back a useful feature?

We have some sales data to analyze…

Audeze MM-100 Headphones Long Term Review: For Work AND Play!

Audeze MM-100 Review!

I’m a sucker for a good planar magnetic headphone. Audeze has a fun hook here, promising tuning and performance for both audiophiles and people who work in recording.

Are these finally the cans you can use for both work and play?

I THINK THEY ARE! Continue reading “Audeze MM-100 Headphones Long Term Review: For Work AND Play!”

#SGGQA 374: Snapdragon X Laptops Flop, Phone Chips Battle, Do People Want Headphone Jacks Back?

ISPs tell the FCC that “excellent service” is why their customers stay. AI companies are squeezing utilities to increase energy costs to consumers. Only 700,000 CoPilot+ laptops have been sold this quarter. Intel’s CEO has stepped down. My pal Jaime Rivera is leaving Pocketnow.

Qualcomm vs MediaTek vs Google, Who’s making the best phone chip for 2025?

And let’s chat a little about headphone jacks on mobile devices…

Let’s get our tech week started right!

Camera Control Fake Buttons Are NOT Better for Phone Photos…

Camera Control “Buttons” are Kinda Stupid.

EVERYONE ELSE WAS WRONG BUT ME!!!

A little trip down memory lane. We’ve already tried this dumb experiment of using a camera shutter button as a zoom rocker. It was a terrible idea. Just because Apple is trying it again with hardware, doesn’t make it any better… Continue reading “Camera Control Fake Buttons Are NOT Better for Phone Photos…”

iQOO 13 Review: Return of a Flagship Killer

Maybe no longer a “killer flagship”, at least not by how we judge cameras…

The iQOO 13 is in the GadgetLab, and it’s my first spin with a Snapdragon 8 Elite. This was the phone I used to test against the Oppo Find X8 Pro in our By The Benchmarks article, and it’s a screamer. Even though it loses every fight I can stage against the Dimensity this year, we should still celebrate a GREAT transition for Snapdragon chips.

The iQOO 13 is billed as a hot-rod performer, and it’s about as close to a gaming phone as we can get, without adding more gamer hardware. I have a LOT of thoughts! Continue reading “iQOO 13 Review: Return of a Flagship Killer”
