Xiaomi 15: Not Ready for a Review! (UPDATED! THIS IS NOW A REVIEW!)

The Xiaomi 15 is HERE, and it’s been getting some GREAT updates! It’s EXCEEDINGLY similar to the Xiaomi 14!

Thankfully we’re not seeing a lot of downgrades or part swaps, and we manage those lifestyle upgrades like the fingerprint sensor and the battery capacity!

Still, for how expensive this new 8 Elite chip from Qualcomm is, Xiaomi sent us devices that are scoring behind the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. This is not an optimized experience yet.

Wouldn’t you know it, we got a DAY ONE patch on the reveal of this phone! Any review out now is ALREADY OBSOLETE! HURRAH! We get to do DOUBLE the work in covering this phone!

Google Pixel Fold Three Months Later: A Long Term Review, Android 14, and a Road Trip

I’ve been pretty vocal on folding tablets. I’m conflicted on the segment, and I believe that (even with a few years in the market) we’re still looking at a public BETA test for this concept.

I was (and still am) a big fan of the Surface Duo, but folks seem to forget that I gave a “niche of a niche” verdict for the Duo 2. I prefer Dual Display, but there was a SMALL segment of consumers who I believed would be a good fit for that device.

There’s a specific philosophy that needs to be addressed comparing something like a Pixel Fold with a Duo. They both have a hinge that folds the device in half, but they represent VERY different solutions.

The Pixel Fold is a traditional tablet, offering a larger unbroken canvas to work with. The Duo is a multi-tasking monster, delivering a more direct path to using two apps at once.

Getting my bias out of the way, after three months, two flights, and a road trip, how has the Fold treated me?

Pretty well. There’s a lot of potential here. Continue reading “Google Pixel Fold Three Months Later: A Long Term Review, Android 14, and a Road Trip”

Vivo X90 Pro Android 14 BETA: Six Month Later, I Finally “Get It” Now…

The X90 Pro long term review!

Revisiting a phone that I maybe did not pay enough attention to at the beginning of the year. Now that the Vivo X90 Pro is running Android 14 BETA 2, has my opinion changed? As new phones come out in the second half of 2023, this could be a MONSTER device to shop on a good sale…

LG V60 in 2022: Still the most feature complete…

It’s always fun to revisit the last generation of LG phones, but at the same time, it’s a little sad to see how much we’ve lost on premium tier phones.

LG stopped producing phones in 2020. They went out on a high note. The V60, Velvet, and Wing were a terrific trio, highlighting everything we enjoy about LG design and innovation.

The memory of LG doesn’t reflect the actual products released by the brand.

Ask a techie about the label, and you’re likely to get replies joking about “boot loops” and a poor track record for updates. Unless someone spent actual time with the brand, it was easy to overlook the significant improvements to build quality and support.

It would be like making an “all Samsungs explode” joke today. A lazy joke in poor taste.

What’s been most interesting to see, LG’s best years for software support arrived after the company shuttered their smartphone division. Continue reading “LG V60 in 2022: Still the most feature complete…”

No Surface Duo 3 in 2022? I’m OK sticking with the Duo 2…

Duo 2 Long term review!

Almost a year later, the Duo 2 is running better than ever. It’s an extremely powerful pocket tablet. We haven’t heard any news on a Duo 3, but here’s why that might be OK…

Huawei Mate 9 After the Buzz: It’s big, but are we still using it?

It’s big, bold, and brassy! Well the USA version was more metallic gray, but it’s time for us to circle back and take a second look at one of the only true BIG screen options of 2016. It was a powerhouse when we originally reviewed it, but how has it weathered the competition from newer phones this year? Can it still compete? Here’s our Huawei Mate 9, After the Buzz!
