Friday Fun: ‘The Flash’ Cast Sings the Theme Song to ‘Firefly’

jesse l martin the flash firefly singing kickstarterIt’s really fun to see circular fandom between actors and showrunners.

Jesse L Martin is self producing a short film, and fundraising on Kickstarter. Joss Whedon apparently pledged “an outstanding amount” to the project. To thank him, Martin grabbed Flash co-stars Rick Cosnett and Carlos Valdes for a little a capella rendition of the Firefly theme. Take a listen.

We also know that Grant Gustin who plays Barry Allen on the show can carry a tune, so maybe a musical episode might be in our future?

Samsung Donates $50,000 to LA Habitat for Humanity at #DITCHtheDSLR Event in Hollywood

I finally said goodbye to my old Canon Rebel. Samsung made the pain of giving it away easier by allowing me to trade it in for a new NX30 mirrorless camera. The event in Hollywood also featured a Guinness World Record selfie chain, and showcased Samsung’s charitable side with a $50,000 donation to the LA chapter of Habitat for Humanity!

‘The Expendables 3’ Leaks Online in DVD Quality Before Film’s Release

The-Expendables-3Often when copies of a film show up online close to a film’s release in theaters, they’re often bad camera jobs. People pointing a camera at a movie theater screen to capture the footage. No such luck for the producers on ‘The Expendables 3‘ as a DVD quality rip of the film showed up on file sharing services July 24th.

It’s not clear who leaked the film, but it’s already been downloaded hundreds of thousands of times. It will be interesting to see how this might affect the box office tally for the film which opens August 15th. If it takes a bad beat opening weekend, you can be sure that heads will roll at distributor Lionsgate over how this screener got loose.

Before people get too excited about snagging a copy of the film for free on their favorite torrent service, production company Nu Image has been active in the past in suing people sharing previous titles of theirs. With a leak this potentially damaging, we might assume they’ll be very active in trying to chill sharing activity…

On the Red Carpet for the Hollywood Premiere of Thor: The Dark World! #SkypeMarvel

I love movies. I used to host a movie review show. My pals at Skype got in touch with me to see if I would like to attend the Hollywood premiere of Thor: The Dark World, and I of course said “Hells Yes”. I had on the blast on the red carpet hanging out with Amy Dallen from Geek and Sundry, and I got some great candid photos of the film’s stars being interviewed for the event.

The film was a lot of fun (I liked it better than the first one), and I’d like to thank Skype for hooking up a great moment! Catch my shots in the slideshow below. Fair warning, Google embedding is broken, so it’ll take you to my G+ page in a new tab, but the slideshow will continue here on the blog.

(Video Interview) Chris Emerson: One Month #ThroughGlass

christopher emerson throughglass glass explorer google demo hands somegadgetguyActor Chris Emerson is a socially conscious, tech forward friend of mine. He shares my more optimistic views of what technology might provide us if we are able to embrace it. For six weeks now he’s been a part of the Glass Explorers program. We spent an afternoon chatting about Google’s newest disruptive tech at a slick coffee bar in Hollywood.

This is a longer video, almost an hour, but Chris discusses in depth what his experiences have been. If you’ve been curious about Glass, this interview should answer a lot of questions.
