No manufacturer is perfect, and even the biggest smartphone companies can make mistakes. We’re going to work through, company by company, discussing what I thought was the biggest misstep from each tech manufacturer.
How Moto screwed up their phones in 2017! Did I call it? Did this company make a bigger faux pas? Drop me a comment down below.
A new G series Moto, now clad in metal, here’s our first look at the new G5 Plus from MWC 2017!

If you’re going to spend an extra $300 for a modular camera which snaps onto the back of your (already expensive) smartphone, shouldn’t that modular camera outperform the camera built into your phone? If you slap a name like Hasselblad on a photography product, we’re going to have exceedingly high expectations. Let’s see how the Hasselblad True Zoom compares against the built in camera found on the Moto Z Force!

Rumors have been swirling about what the company will reveal now that they’re owned by Lenovo, and it’s not a single phone, but a trio of new gadgets.
The New Moto G
Gaining a water resistant build, Gorilla Glass, more color options in Moto Maker, this is the phone that bolstered Moto’s market share. It was an inexpensive, entry-level handset which brought a higher quality of performance to the budget crowd, one of the first Android’s to fight Nokia at “cheap” price points.
This Moto G will come in two flavors, 1GB RAM and 8GB of storage for $179, or 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage for $219. Both come with a 13MP camera, a 5″ 720p Screen, and an “all day” battery powered by a Qualcomm 410 series processor. Recently we’ve seen more companies like Asus and Alcatel’s Idol 3 delivering inexpensive options near this price, and Moto’s offering looks to be pushing the boundaries even further.
Moto X Style
This is our new flagship! Taking some of the lessons learned from building the Nexus 6, you can now get a similar phablet build with some of Motorola’s fun customizations.
Moto X Style has a 5.7″ QHD display. Happily they opted for the Qualcomm 808, the same processor powering the LG G4, instead of the more powerful, but hotter and slower Qualcomm 810. X Style will have 3GB of RAM, and if its build of Android 5.1 is anything like last year’s Moto X, it should smoke the Galaxy S6 in multi-tasking performance. Plus we’ll see the addition of a Micro SD card slot for storage expansion. The whole affair will be powered by a 3000mAh battery, which based on these specs, should be good for all day run time.

Google’s monster phablet is getting a price cut!
The Nexus 6 has dropped $150 from its price tag on the Google Play store, and Amazon has followed suit. This applies to both the 32GB and 64GB models which are currently selling for $499 and $549 respectively.
It’s unknown whether this is a permanent price drop, a special sale being run for Father’s day, or a promotion to line up with the first round of invites for Project Fi (Google’s MVNO phone service). However, if you were shopping a stock Android phone, the price just got a LOT sweeter.
One of the most popular posts we published last year was the announcement for Motorola’s boundary breaking watch the Moto 360.
Now that we’ve spent some time playing with it, has it lived up to the hype? No. It has not, and here’s why…

It’s a huge day at AT&T. Big Blue took the wraps off of their release schedule for four huge devices.
Moto360AT&T is becoming one of the better stocked retail outlets for wearable tech, and they were early in embracing smartwatches. Now the Moto360 has an official home at AT&T stores. Starting November 7th, you can get a Moto360 for $199 if you bundle it with the purchase of a Moto X Smartphone.
LG G Watch RI TOTALLY CALLED IT! We have official pricing for LG’s round, premium smartwatch, and it looks like that extra bit of style will run you $299. It’ll be stocked and ready to buy starting November 5th!
Lumia 830Windows Phone fans have probably been feeling a little neglected of late, but AT&T will be the first carrier to bring the Lumia 830 to our shores. The mid-ranger will sell for $449.99 or you can grab it for $99 on two-year contract. If you’re signing up on contract, you can also grab a free FitBit Flex for a limited time. You can see a brief hands on with the Lumia 830 from my trip out to CTIA!
Kyocera DuraForce
Kyocera is finally leaving their exclusive relationship with CDMA carriers, dropping one phone on T-Mobile, and now the DuraForce on AT&T. It looks like a redesigned version of the Brigadier which launched on Verizon a couple months ago, but there’s no word yet if the DuraForce will also have Kyocera’s incredible sapphire display. It looks like it’ll be AT&T’s most rugged phone however, and you can grab one for $389 or $49 on two-year contract. You can catch our long term review of the Brigadier to whet your appetite!
