I’ve been tracking phone performance for a couple years now. Sharing my early testing and impressions, let’s compare some numbers! Welcome to the first episode of By the Benchmarks!
How do these phones compare against last year’s OnePlus? Benchmarks don’t tell the whole story, but they’re a good place to start!
We get lost in new releases and having the biggest specs. It’s important to keep track of how we use these gadgets. Looking at my own behavior using the 7 Pro and the 7T, a few things surprised me. I didn’t PLAN it this way, but what might it say about my personal bias?

The OnePlus 6 is one of my favorite phones from 2018 to revisit. The last offering from OnePlus with a rear fingerprint sensor and a headphone jack, this phone STRONGLY tested my theory on waiting for the “T” version.
The OnePlus 6T was an exciting phone. It came in a gorgeous purple shell. It got a carrier deal with T-Mobile. However, the farther we get from 2018, the OnePlus 6 is the phone I hold closer for its practicality.
Over a year from its initial launch, how well is OnePlus keeping up with support for the 6? Pretty stinking well…

EPIC smartphone throttle test!
If we want phones to start replacing laptops, they have to handle heavier workloads. I’ve gotten criticisms that my video rendering test is too short, so let’s REALLY drive some phones hard. What if we rendered a WHOLE MOVIE on a phone? Can our mobile gadgets hand with laptops? Will phones run too hot?
Only one way to know! We gotta do it!
It’s one of the best phones of the year at any price. I’m not going to shock anyone by sharing my mostly positive experiences.
Still, we should chat about this phone, a CONFUSING year of product releases, and what people MIGHT want if they decide to shop upscale.
