EA is under criminal investigation in Belgium and Finland over lootboxes! Apple released some crazy expensive phones, and Xiaomi replies with their own XS and XR bundles! The Verge shows us how NOT to build a gaming PC! By next year HALF of all phone calls will be spam!
Welcome to the first creator chat on the SGGQA podcast channel. This is a project I’ve been teasing for a while, and it’s finally real! For all the people making fantastic content online, I think the story of how a creator got started is just as interesting and entertaining as the stuff they make.
For the first episode of this interview series, my friend TK Bay was kind enough to spare some time to chat. He’s a terrific technical producer, with tremendous insight on software and tech support, and he delivers one of the more balanced and practical voices in the tech review space.
From getting his start at XDA, to creating his own channel, and what it takes to manage a healthy tech community. Here’s my conversation with TK Bay!
We made it a WHOLE SHOW without any annoying audio problems or the stream freezing!
Verizon lobbyist runs for the Attorney General seat in New York! FCC Chairman Pai wants to regulate internet companies but not ISPs! YouTube and Netflix top the list of services throttled!
And let’s talk about the top phones releasing at the end of 2018! OnePlus 6T, iPhone XS, Pixel 3, Razer 2!
Thankfully this week’s podcast wasn’t interrupted by a bad feed, but there were some small audio gremlins. My software showed levels from my mic, but the feed pulled audio from my camera. NO idea how that happened… Anywho…
We have a REAL WIN for Net Neutrality in California! Neil deGrasse Tyson is WAY MORE badass than you are (when it comes to smartphones)! Also, some of my favorite stories from IFA 2018! Sony might just be the sweetheart of this year’s trade show…
The live video borked AGAIN (like last week) a couple minutes into the podcast, and I had to set up a new stream. The video linked below is the recovered stream, but the intro is wonky because of the interruption. The audio version of the podcast has the complete intro, and the full list of topics. Apologies for any confusion.
My P20 Pro camera review is live! “PureView” returns to HMD! Huawei has been kicked out of Australia! Google France kills their Google+ page! And a VERY special block of Net Neutrality news following the Firefighters in California getting throttled by Verizon.

So. Google clarifies their tracking scandal! Netflix is adding commercials to your TV binging! Huawei’s Mate 20 will have a smaller notch! We should all have 4K displays on our phones! Project Fi will end support for text forwarding! The FCC faced ZERO repercussions for lying about DDOS attacks.
And a special cranky political rant about ISPs wanting more public funds for broadband, but fighting any public regulations.
A near future colony on the moon! A protagonist who flirts with criminal activities. A noir caper to change the face of the lunar economy. ‘Artemis’ is a fun romp through sci-fi crime from the author of ‘The Martian’. Andy Weir delivers just enough science to keep the story grounded, but just enough drama to keep you turning pages! Shop Artemis on Amazon https://amzn.to/2wrp49m
