Six Things Sony NEEDS to NOT do to Their Next Headphones! WH-1000XM5 Success?

I certainly have a reputation for being the CABLED audio nerd. I genuinely believe in cabled audio as the best solution for quality and consistency. That does NOT mean I don’t enjoy some Bluetooth solutions for convenience and noise reduction. I’m not about to take my really fancy open-back cans on a road trip or flight.

The headphones I’ve been using the most over the last two years took a dive onto tile, and unfortunately did not survive. My Wife took pity on me, and for my birthday, she hooked me up with a pair of Sony WH-1000XM4s!

In a fancy blue color no less.

Using them for a couple days now, I’m as impressed as I was when I got to test drive some XM3’s, and I already have some thoughts on what Sony might do for the XM5’s.

Sony XPERIA 1 III: FINALLY a phone for ME!

Sony XPERIA 1 iii first impressions! Long-term first impressions? This all got SUPER weird. I had the phone back in May, had to send it back, and then they changed the embargo.

Still, we can FINALLY share some thoughts on my favorite phone of 2021.

Where MANY premium phones are getting rid of features, Sony stands as the most complete premium option on the market today. Improvements for the camera. Improvements for the audio. If Sony Should Stop Making Phones, at LEAST Tell Us Why?

We can always count on techies to “punch down” on brands with smaller marketing departments.

Sony is now apparently one of the targeted brands, falling into the techie “common knowledge” net of a company that ‘just can’t do anything right’.

It’s not enough to make videos celebrating Samsung and Apple on their own merits. We also need there to be phone “losers”, so Samsung and Apple can be seen ‘winning’.

Whether it’s refusing to include a Pixel in a camera comparison, or highlighting a Galaxy Fold in a Sony editorial. It seems we’re just going to keep reinforcing the same tired tropes that get our community mocked ruthlessly on Reddit.

It’s fine. This is fine.
