SomeGadgetGuy’s Ultimate Collection of LG G3 Reviews and Comparison Videos!

Last year LG delivered a phone well ahead of the curve in the G2. This year they’re continuing to push the envelope with the G3. On paper, it should be an absolute monster with a QHD screen, incredible battery life, and a new laser focusing system for the camera.

Has LG succeeded in redefining the Android experience?

We’ve produced a series of videos testing out the speaker and camera. Plus we’ve shot comparisons of the G3 against popular handsets like the GS5, Lumia Icon, and HTC M8. Lastly, we’ve taken a full tour around the hardware and software in our first impressions video.

If there’s any aspect of this phone that you’ve been curious about, chances are pretty good we’ve covered it. In detail. Hit the videos below if you’ve been curious about LG’s newest flagship!

App Review – Pako by Tree Man Games

pakohdr

Pako sounds like it could be a board game, but is it? Nope! Pako is a super fun and crazy addicting game that involves the cops and you. Yes you!

wp_ss_20140630_0007The action begins with you in a parking lot in a car and yet for some reason you are going to be chased down by the cops! I hope you have some drifting skills because you will need them and by the way, you have no brakes. No brakes at all! If you crash into a building, a tree, a car or any other object, the game starts again. The object of the game is to see how long you can survive without crashing or being caught by the cops. App Review: UPS has landed on Windows Phone!

Screenshot_13It looks like another official app has been added to the growing number of apps for Windows Phone users.  UPS has arrived! The UPS app should be super useful for those running a small and big business or for when Some Gadget Guy sends out prizes to contest winners!

The design of the app has a modern UI and the familiar brown and gold UPS branding. You can sign in with Facebook, MYUPS ID or you can just skip the sign in and get down to tracking your packages.  The UPS app also gives you the option of requesting a quote for shipping and will let you pick your preferred method of shipment such as UPS Overnight to UPS ground and everything in between. The UPS app lets you choose your packaging from a tube  all the way to the large UPS  Express Box. Are you shipping an oddball sized box? The UPS app has you covered in that department as well! Just enter the box dimensions while requesting your quote.

Nokia Lumia 635 coming to T-Mobile July 9th

Lumia-635-2Nokia is raising the stakes on the entry-level game.

After scoring a hit with last years low-cost wunderphone the Lumia 520, the follow up this year is looking to continue that tradition of not punishing people for buying a “cheap” handset.

This will be the first phone to properly ship with Windows Phone 8.1 (our full review of Microsoft’s new OS), and it’s coming first to T-Mobile. Starting July 9th you can score one for $0 down and only $7 a month added to your plan. It’ll be less than $170 if you want to buy it outright.

A 4.5″ screen is powered by a Qualcomm 400 series quad core, 512MB of RAM, 8GB of storage (with MicroSD card expansion up to 128GB), a 5MP rear camera, an 1830mAh battery, and LTE for T-Mo’s 4G network.  It’s a solid step up from the Lumia 520, and more than covers the basics for someone wanting a solid smartphone experience.

The 635 will eventually land on other carriers, but Lil Magenta is where you can get it first. It’ll be closely followed by the Lumia 930, which we got a sneak peek of in the Verizon Lumia Icon. Nokia produced a hands on of the 635, which you can watch below.

PSA: Windows Phone Users Only Have One Week Left to Use 3rd Party Google Voice Apps

unhappy windows phones google voiceJust a friendly reminder folks. This is the last week to use those terrific 3rd party Google Voice clients like MetroTalk on our Windows Phones.

Rumors are pointing towards merging Voice and Hangouts on Android handsets, but that’ll leave WP users out in the cold as there is no Hangouts app for people who happen to prefer Live Tiles.

Live it up. Send a few extra texts. Make a few more phone calls. In seven days the cord gets cut.

Microsoft giving away Windows Phones over the weekend at Microsoft Stores

ms windows phone contestPosted to their Facebook page today, Microsoft will be giving away eight Windows Phones at each of their stores this May 3rd and 4th.

Details are a bit slim, but if you’re looking to score a free phone, it looks like you’ll be playing a game. We know it’s called the “Opportunity Rings, Answer It” game, but we don’t know how it’ll be played. We also don’t know what phones will be given away, and what carriers will be supported.

Still a free phone is a free phone, and if you live near a Microsoft store it might be worth the trek. A little additional info can be found on their Facebook event page. Good luck!
